Don’t Wait Until January 2013 To Lose Weight

It’s that time of year where many people (not you of course) are deciding to throw in the towel and wait until next year to  lose weight  they promised themselves last year they would lose the beginning of this year. After all it’s getting colder and who wants to go to the gym or fitness boot-camp when it’s cloudy and chilly outside. Soon you will be wrapped in sweaters, coats and layers of clothes which will cover the extra pounds you are going to gain. In another couple of days it’s officially holiday season and time for the desserts, cakes, cookies, etc. so why not just enjoy, chill and relax the rest of the year. You have parties to attend, alcohol to drink and grandma’s Thanksgiving dinner.

But–why wait until next year?

Why not this year?

Why not this month?

Why not right now?

Remember this is what you did last year and was discouraged and depressed and couldn’t believe the 15-20 pounds you gained over the holidays. When the couple of days of  New Years excitement wore off  you dropped your quick weight loss plan  gave in and gave up. This year, at this moment–“Get It”. Realize your weight needs to be dealt with now– actually right now. So please don’t take your sweet time (pun intended) because you figure there is time and no pressure on you. Are you going to make the same mistake? Are you going to do the same thing and expect a different result- yes, insanity. Stop debating, procrastinating, hesitating and waiting.

So what’s the solution? Stop finding excuses. Actually stop looking for them and you won’t find them. Don’t say you want to change if you are not ready to do something about it. The first step is to do something. Start walking, hire a personal trainer, brush off your favorite exercise DVD. Something is better than nothing. The smallest step is a step.
